It offers comprehensive breast care ranging from screening and diagnostic mammography to the coordination of advanced diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical and/or reconstructive procedures. In addition, the Center also serves as a site for education, reference, and support.
Understanding Your Breast Health
A team of compassionate and dedicated professionals will see to your care at the Breast Care Center. As part of this team, the Center’s Nurse Navigator is available to answer questions, provide breast health information and assist patients who have an abnormal mammogram or those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The Nurse Navigator and/or Breast Surgeons are available to work with patients and their personal physician to coordinate specific portions or all aspects of their care such as scheduling a breast MRI appointment or more detailed assistance coordinating an ongoing plan of care for those newly diagnosed with breast cancer. The Nurse Navigator is also available to assist with non-medical situations such as transportation issues, childcare problems or lack of financial resources which could impede proper or timely treatment.
Scheduling Your Mammogram, Ultrasound or Breast MRI
Highpoint Health uses digital mammography for all screening and diagnostic mammograms. Additionally, we offer 3D Mammography; also called Tomosynthesis. This technology allows the Radiologist to distinguish abnormalities without the shadows caused by overlying tissue. 3D Mammography is helpful for women who have dense breast tissue or a family history of breast cancer.
3D Mammography can be requested when you schedule your annual Mammogram. Most insurance carriers cover this extra view.
If you are planning to have a mammogram, breast ultrasound or breast MRI at Highpoint Health and you have previously had one of these procedures at another facility, it is important that our Radiologists have copies of these images for comparison. The comparison of current to previous images helps our Radiologists make more specific interpretations. You will need to have these images transferred over to Highpoint Health.
Transferring your images to Highpoint Health is very easy. Click here to download and print a simple consent form. Once you have completed and signed the form, please mail or fax the form to the hospital or clinic from where you are requesting the images.
Free Digital Screening Mammograms
Highpoint Health offers free screening mammograms for women over 40 who meet certain guidelines. If you live in Indiana, meet our income guidelines and have no current symptoms of breast cancer, you may qualify for this free service.
Additional Services Including Personal Care Products
The Breast Care Center staff is also available to assist breast cancer patients and breast cancer survivors with additional services including the acquisition of wigs and headwear; breast prostheses; lymphedema compression garments and personal care products.
