Highpoint Health 5K Run/Walk Sees Another Successful Turnout
Every fall, hundreds of people gather at the levee in Lawrenceburg to support one of their favorite causes—the Highpoint Health Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department.
On the Saturday morning of Fall Fest, former respiratory and cardiac patients, their families and friends, and Highpoint Health physicians, staff and supporters, join with the public to participate in the 5K Heart & Lung Health Run/Walk.
Participants walked or ran on Dearborn Trails between Ivy Tech Community
College-Riverfront Campus and the trail’s bridge over Tanner’s Creek. They were assisted by 47 volunteers from Highpoint Health, Ivy Tech and Lawrenceburg High School before, during and after the event.
Highpoint Health President and CEO Michael W. Schwebler and Lawrenceburg Mayor Kelly Mollaun both spoke at the start of the race to welcome and thank all those in attendance.
Since 2010, the Highpoint Health Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department has sponsored the Run/Walk in partnership with Lawrenceburg Fall Fest, the City of Lawrenceburg and the Lawrenceburg Conservancy District. Ivy Tech Community College-Riverfront Campus generously provides its facilities for pre and post-walk activities.
Although there is no race certification offered, many participants run the course. This year’s top finishers were: first place, Lee Fox of Hidden Valley; second place, Logan Ross of Manchester; third place, Tom Pollack of Aurora; and fourth place, Mark Minotti of Bowling Green, Kentucky.
